There are movements taking place all over business right now.

These movements form when people are working together towards a common goal or idea to make an impact and real change. They change other people, or environments, or even entire industries… or more. (I’ll share some business centered groups of awesome people that are changing their environments at the end of the post.)

How does someone start a movement? Where does it begin, and with whom? This is short, sweet, and simple. A movement starts with an individual with belief and love. Then they include a small group of people. And then, not only will it change those people involved, there is potential to make massive, lasting and potential cultural changes to an entire area of business, even industry-wide shifts that can change the world.

The most relevant example I can give you, whether you, are a believer or not. Jesus and the Twelve Apostles. He embodied love, Jesus and love are synonymous – He spoke it, showed it, and shared it. His teachings and Christianity are still moving people today.

A couple of keys for any movement can be found in the definition and the question. How does one start a movement?

Starting a movement is easy. First, the operative word here is in the name itself, movement. You have to take action. That’s right, get things moving. Action creates momentum and force. Nothing happens until… well, something happens, something has to move and create change. While there is power in a movement alone, it becomes almost unstoppable when there is true belief and conviction behind it.

Many people may ask, “Can I be part of something like that?” Or,  “Could I possibly help start something like this because of what is important to me?”

The answer is YES.

You start by taking, simple, consistent and inspired action. By taking action that feels good and feels relevant to you at the core. You start. When you do this, people will gather, for things that are positive, creative, and dynamic. People will rally behind innovation to make things better, that feel good, are sustainable, and create real change in their industry or even to go bigger than that – to change not just their world, but THE WORLD!
